Directions to Trail Head:
3 miles north of downtown Seward, turn west off of Seward Hwy onto Exit Glacier Rd. Drive 8 miles to the Exit Glacier parking lot where the trail begins.
In-depth Description:
The lower loop (.5 miles) trails leads up a paved and then gravel trail that is flat. It crosses the outwash plain closer to the face of the glacier. There are opportunities to look closely at the large ice chunks that have fallen from the glacier, use caution when approaching the glacier and stay a good distance away, people have been killed by falling ice chunks.
The upper loop (1 mile) leads up a rocky trail to an outlook of exit glacier where you can look down on it and see the ice that covers the mountain. The trail then loops back.
The interpretive loop (.75 mile) this loop includes signs explaining the plants in the surrounding area and gives you great views of the valley.
